Fairyhouse Racing

Ireland is home to many horseracing venues, which range from those of international standing to well attended and loved local courses. Fairyhouse Racecourse is certainly one of the premier venues and is most famous as the home of the Irish Grand National.

Fairyhouse Racing, inside rail A popular event space at other times too for large open air concerts and markets, Fairyhouse is an historic and cultural landmark in County Meath but it is the Fairyhouse racing which has defined the course most since the first races held on the site in 1848 and as the venue for the National since 1870.

The high standard of Fairyhouse racing can be attributed to two major factors. Firstly, it has a real reputation as a fair and fine course which in turn attracts the absolute best horses and riders.

Famous Irish and Grand National winner L'escargot trained at the course and Desert Orchid and a host of other racing royalty have graced the track on numerous occasions.

While the quality of the competition is undoubtedly a huge attraction for racegoers, the superb hospitality available in some of the most modern facilities adds immeasurably to the appeal and ongoing popularity of Fairyhouse racing.

The track at Fairyhouse is a right-handed circuit of 1 mile and 6 1/2 furlongs, featuring a straight of 2 1/2 furlongs and an uphill finish. The main event is the Easter Festival which runs from the Sunday to the Wednesday with the Irish National held on Easter Monday. A chase open to five year olds and above, the Irish National is contested over 3 miles 5 furlongs, encompassing 23 fences.

The most prestigious and valuable steeplechase in Ireland, the National draws great crowds and is a major racing and social event. A further three Grade I races, including Hattons Grace Hurdle, are held during the Winter Festival in November and there are evening fixtures in June which make the most of the summer weather.

Ticket prices for Fairyhouse racing start from €10, rising to €25 for the Irish National. A 20% discount is available for group bookings of over 20 persons and student and OAP concessions are available. Standard adult annual membership costs €200 and represents excellent value for regular racegoers. Membership benefits include admission to all 21 meetings throughout the year, free parking and access to member’s areas of the ground. Members may also bring a guest for free to four fixtures a year.

Corporate hospitality packages provide a further option for those wishing to combine some first class Fairyhouse racing with quality dining to match. The Summer Series Package comprises a three course meal within the Bobbyjo Bistro at a table booked for the day. Costing just €49 per person the package also includes admission to the course, complimentary glass of wine, and live post-race entertainment.

Fairyhouse Racing, photo finish BobbyJo Bistro has a capacity for up to 300 and can be booked for private functions outside race days too. A further function space, the Arkle Room is available. Situated in the Jameson Stand, the suite can cater for up to 200 persons, has great views over the parade ring and is convenient for the first floor viewing stand.

On the top level of the Jameson stand are found private boxes which are ideal for parties of 12 for a silver service meal and up to 20 for a buffet. With a tiered balcony for race viewing and superb hospitality, the Jameson Stand suites offer a classic VIP raceday experience. There are numerous public bars and further dining facilities open to all racegoers and many more options for enjoying the best hospitality available at one of Ireland's foremost horseracing venues.
